Tee Ball 1 (4-5 year olds)
This division is for players with little or no experience with baseball.
This division is instructional and players will learn the concepts of hitting and advancing to 1st base.
Players will hit off the tee for every at bat.
MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT
Your child must turn 4 years of age on or before August 31 of the current year to register for the regular Spring season.
SEASON
The Spring season typically starts at the beginning of March and runs through early-June. This program is only offered in the spring.
GAMES
Each team plays 10-12 games per season.
Games played during the week generally start at 6pm.
Games played on Saturday will be generally scheduled at 9am.
Game length is typically 1 hour.
PRACTICE
Practice occurs one weekday at 6pm and one weekend for three to four weeks prior to the season with some practices during the season at the manager's discretion.
UNIFORMS
PLL provides a jersey, hat and belts. Names and numbers are placed on jerseys. Parents must provide pants, white or grey (Coach will decide color). Parents must provide athletic shoes. Rubber cleats are optional.
PLAYING EQUIPMENT
Parents must provide ball glove, batting helmet with facemask and chin strap and USA Baseball certified tee ball bat. https://www.littleleague.org/playing-rules/bat-rules/.
TEAM
Teams usually consist of 10-12 players, (1) one volunteer manager, (3) three volunteer assistant coaches, and (1) one volunteer team parent.

Q: Do you keep score and are there umpires?
A: No. The T-Ball league is structured to teach the fundamentals of baseball only. The games are self-umpired by the volunteer managers and coaches.
Q: Can I Manage or coach a team?
A: Yes, if positions are available! Prospective managers must complete an online application. If you would like to serve as a coach, then please note that on your child's spring online registration. All managers and coaches must be approved by the Powhatan Little League Board of Directors.
Q: What kind of baseball is used?
A: A soft core baseball is used to prevent injury and provide for a good learning experience.
Q: Will my child get to play all the time?
A:Yes we put all players on the field defensively during each inning, and every players bats each inning.
Q: What are the volunteer requirements?
A: PLL is an all-volunteer organization so there are many ways to volunteer. Help is always needed with registration, team parenting, assisting with picture and opening night activities, helping with post-season tournaments, and fundraising to name just a few of the many ways to help support PLL.
